The MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS is a bilateral multi-disciplinary research organisation funded by the Medical Research Council (UK), DFID (UK) and other donor organisations.
We are seeking a Laboratory Technologist to work within the Co-infection Studies Programme (CiSP). The appointee will work primarily on immunological studies surrounding BCG immunisation at birth. However, all Lab Technologists are expected to support aspects of each other’s work in order to ensure continuity during leave periods.
Duties and responsibilities: The post will be based in Entebbe at the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS. The successful candidate will be a member of the CiSP laboratory team. Activities will include receiving, processing and archiving samples, cellular immunology including in vitro stimulation and fl ow cytometry, coordination of laboratory activities with field and clinic teams, participation in analysis, writing up and presentation of results if or when
appropriate.

Qualifications and experience: The post will suit an individual who has a Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant discipline and fully registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council. Funding is available for three years.
The successful applicant must complete and pass a three month probation period before they will be offered a longer contract.
