Job Description:
Key Duties & Responsibilities
•Lead in designing and/revising curricula and conduct lectures for undergraduate and graduate levels in areas of nursing, midwifery, research and some basic medical courses
•Together with other senior academic staff members, link up with other institutions in collaborative research and seek research funding for research projects in nursing and midwifery
•Supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
•Participate in organising clinical sites for practical placement of both undergraduate and graduate students.
•Supervise regular inventory of all equipment and instruments in the Nurses Skills Lab.
•Provide leadership for the nursing programme/department and fill in staff performance appraisal forms as required
•Contribute to faculty and university –wide committees as requested, and actively follow and promote UCU mission, Values and policies.
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and Experience
•PhD in Nursing Sciences or its Equivalent
•Master’s degree in Nursing or related field from a recognized Institute of Higher Education
•Taught at University for at least three years
•Published at least two new scholarly articles in internationally recognised journals in their area of expertise
•Should have a current practice license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
•Demonstration of initiative and involvement in development of academic programmes
•Supervised or co-supervised at least one dissertation at post or undergraduate level
•Membership of a professional body
•Should be a committed Mature Christian who subscribes to the instrument of identity of the University.
